Protective styles are styles that tuck away your hair so that it is not likely to get damaged. This also allows for your hair to retain length. Protective styling is very important because it is very low maintenance. Having a low maintenance style is important because you’re giving your hair a break from your hands, and sometimes that’s exactly what it needs in order to stay healthy.
There are plenty of different types of protective styles. It’s good to experiment with different kinds and see what works best for you. Throughout the years, my go to protective style have always been box braids or twists!
I completely love these because (once again) they’re so low maintenance. They’re very easy to take care of. These hair styles also save me a lot of time when I’m getting ready. There’s nothing better than just putting my hair up and going.
I also know that a lot of people like to experiment with hair color and we all know that no matter how hard you try to take care of your hair after its dyed, its DAMAGED. I’m am definitely guilty of this. I must admit, it looks cute when you first color your hair, but can’t we all agree that it is HEART-BREAKING when our hair starts to dry out, and when it starts breaking? Getting extensions are honestly your simple solution. Feel free to experiment with your hair without putting your beautiful hair through all of that suffering. With extensions you can put any color in your hair and it will look just as good as if you dyed it! I promise you! And if you keep it in, for two months or so, you’ll notice so much hair growth!
Another protective style that I have tried is weave.
As cute as this weave was, it was not for me. It felt like a hat was sewn to my head. I literally only kept it on for a week, but this was my personal experience. If you can handle it and if you know how to take care of it, I say go for it girl! I say go for a full sew in, minimal to no leave out. Now, this is probably the same amount of maintenance you would go through with your own hair, but it is not your hair and if you can handle it (unlike me) then why not?! Experiment with different colors, lengths and styles!
& Who says you can’t protective style with YOUR OWN hair? …..
GODDESS BRAIDS are everythingggg omg. These braids can be your go to style whenever. They’re appropriate for any occasion. These braids will definitely keep your hair tucked. You won’t have to worry about your ends rubbing on your clothes. No split ends for you! They are super easy to achieve. You will look like the stunning goddess that you are!
There are so may protective styles out there. Just be patient and willing to experiment and see whats best for you. Do you guys have any go-to protective styles ? Are there any that you would add to the list? How is the health of your hair after protective styling?
