There is so much back and forth going on, on Facebook about the new option to turn profile pictures Blue, White and Red for the Paris terrorist attacks. It’s mainly coming from the African American community because we were never given the option to turn our profile pictures Red, Black and Green for all the Police violence. I don’t want to say too much, because I don’t want to be misinterpreted. After reading and listening to what people have to say about the whole matter I can say I understand the strong feelings.
People are also upset because all of the attention is going to Paris when there is also so much going on in other parts of the world like Kenya and Japan. People are going as far as criticizing one another because of what they choose to give their attention to. Now, I’m aware of the attacks on Paris, as well as the attacks on Kenya. I am also aware of the earthquake in Japan. Truthfully, I have more knowledge of what’s going on in Paris, mainly because that is what the news CHOOSES to put out there. I’m not saying that it’s right. I agree 100% that there are things out there that we need to be more aware of. BUT, I don’t think it’s fair that people are pointing fingers at one another. I feel like if the news is not delivering these current events to people or headlining any of these things then of course we won’t be aware of what is going on.
It really upsets me. I feel for everyone, I do. I also feel like us as humanity, we need to STOP pointing fingers and join the rest of the world who are genuinely trying to come together to be some sort of support for one another. We all know by now that a lot of things in this world has happened over the years. There has never been equality, there has always been violence, and this world has NEVER been perfect. At times like this is where we really need to practice what we preach and actually attempt to be there for each other; as long as we keep playing the blame game nothing is ever going to change and its going to be a constant cycle. “Be the change you want to see in the world!” It starts with ourselves.
I can go on and on for days but I’m going to leave it at that guys. What’s your opinion on the whole situation? How are you guys feeling about it? Do you agree/disagree? Comment Below
