So, you run a business on Instagram. Orrrrr…. do you just want more likes? The point is, you need more eyes on your page so that you can grow your page or business. Whether you run a business or just want more out reach, Instagram has great tools to help you achieve these things. One of the top tools being “hashtags.” You might be reading this and thinking, “Seriously? Hashtags?” YES! You probably use them all the time and have yet to see a difference. This does not mean it does not work. It just means you haven’t been using them correctly. This is why you have me though. I’m gonna teach you exactly what to do in order to expand your reach.
What are Hashtags?
Hashtags (#hashtag) are shortlinks; normally relevant keywords. Clicking on a hashtag shows you other photos under that keyword, and makes your photo more noticed.
How Do I Use Hashtags On Instagram?
Using hashtags on Instagram is actually quite simple, let’s break it down.
The most important thing to know is that Instagram allows you to use up to 30 hashtags under a post. When you use hashtags it is important that they are relevant to your photo, brand or niche. This will attract genuine likes and comments as well as follows. Now, you might be thinking that 30 hashtags related to your photo is so simple, but there is a little bit more you need to know.
The whole point of using hashtags is to get your photo noticed. Instagram so kindly provides us with the number of photos in each hashtag.
Your first 20 hashtags should be hashtags that have 10k to 500k photos. Your last 10 hashtags should have 500k+ hashtags. The less photos under a hashtag, the more likely is is for your photo to be noticed, because that hashtag isn’t over flooded.
Another tip is to not place hashtags directly in your caption. Try placing them in your comments instead. This is not mandatory, it’s all based on personal preference. In my opinion, it is more visually pleasing to not have 30 hashtags in your caption. It also allows people to focus more on your photo and what you have to say.
